NTUC Computer Training Centre Is Now LearningHub

9 September 2004

By Michelle Sng

With effect from 1 August 2004, NTUC Computer Training Centre has become NTUC LearningHub. As the newest member of the NTUC family of companies, LearningHub aims to have even more flexibility to serve members better by offering more affordable but high quality training.

Affordable training bundled with affordable computers

In the first of many exciting initiatives in the pipeline, LearningHub has tied up with NTUC Fairprice Co-operative Limited to provide discounted training courses for Office 1’s popular new range of ePCs.

Since 23 July 2004, the ePC has generated amazing response from companies and individual members of the public. A whopping 1,000 units were sold in just the first week of the launch. The ePC family of products offers affordable packages with prices ranging from $588 to $928. Shipped with a Linux open source operating system and an option to purchase Windows XP at a special price, it promises greater value for money to both home and business users.

LearningHub now offers buyers of the ePC a special discount for a 1-day training course in “Linux Basics” or “Windows XP Basics”. This discount is given to buyers on top of the regular funding subsidies available to union members and corporate customers when they sign up for these courses at LearningHub registration centres.

LearningHub is now Microsoft certified partner

LearningHub was awarded the Certified Partner for Learning Solutions (CPLS) status with Microsoft on 1 July 2004. This new accolade serves as an important milestone as Microsoft, the biggest software company in the world, sets stringent requirements in awarding partnership status. The CPLS status is an indication of a strong endorsement by Microsoft in the quality of LearningHub’s IT training programmes.

This partnership will translate into a win-win value proposition for union members as well as employers, leveraging on NTUC’s track record of providing high quality and affordable skills training for Singapore workers as well as Microsoft’s reputation as the leading software company in business and end user computing. Customers can look forward to LearningHub rolling out even more high quality and value for money training content over the next few
months.
